As difficult as it is to reconcile your feelings, your rationale, and your sense of self, it's important that we take some measure of solace that we all did what we needed to do to win this election.
We knew the consequences. We lived through the memories of 2016, and yet how many more door knocks, phone calls, and volunteer outreach could any of us have made -- fully aware of the stakes?
So many thoughts about what happened, however I am so very happy to see so many amazing leaders in our club win their elections.
Arguably, there's probably no other local Democratic club whose leadership ran for, campaign-managed, and won the way we all did.
Although we are all likely in collective shock, anger, and confusion -- all the emotions -- please take stock in how amazing every one of you are.
It's not just me validating you, please take heart that millions of voters all across California validated your right to marry this election.
Proposition 3 is passing with over 62% of the vote statewide and will enshrine marriage equality into the state constitution.
You matter, your voice matters, your leadership matters, your advocacy matters, your existence matters, and you have the millions of votes and success to show that.
No matter what happens moving forward: we are family.
We fight together, we win together, and we will get through this together.
