Join us for a special endorsement meeting on Thursday, August 29 at 6:30pm. This will be our last endorsement meeting for races to consider that will be on the ballot this November!
This meeting will be a week after our 2024 Democratic National Convention, and we'll have some of our club members who were delegates recap the highlights of their time in Chicago.
You can register for the special meeting on August 29th here.
After a vote to table at our meeting earlier this evening, we will reconsider discussion on taking a position on Proposition 33. If you'd like to read more about Proposition 33, you can check out the Ballotpedia page for the ballot measure.
For endorsement considerations, we will vote on uncontested friendly incumbents Tony Kranz for Encinitas Mayor, Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson for Vallecitos Water District Division 5, Eleanor Evans for Oceanside Unified Area 2, Eric Ortega for Bonsall Unified Area E, Oscar Caralampio for Fallbrook Union High School District Area 4, and Jeff Egkan for North County Fire Protection District 4.
We'll also consider endorsements for uncontested Democratic candidates running for Encinitas City Council District 2, Palomar College Area 4, Santee School Board Seat 4, and Padre Dam Municipal Water District Division 4.
Also, our endorsed friends in Calexico have recruited an ally to run for a 2-year, short-term seat on the Calexico City Council. We will consider an endorsement for them as well, and finalize our endorsements with identifying our club's priority races for November.
Again, all of these races are uncontested by other Democratic candidates, so we should be able to get through them efficiently and quickly.
If for whatever reason, there are noticed candidates who fail to show at our August 29th meeting, then we will have no other option but to skip their endorsement consideration for this cycle. We do not have time to reschedule more special meetings. It's GO time!
Ballots will be dropping in a matter of weeks, and our main priority after August 29th will be finalizing our club's voter guide to be ready for print, last-minute fundraising, and getting-out-the-vote for our priority races.
For truth, justice, and a better tomorrow...
