Hybrid Club Meeting: June 25, 2026

As we've been waiting for more Primary Election results to sort out, we have pushed our meeting back a week to account for anything we may need to reconsider at our next club meeting.

Join us on Thursday, June 25th at 6:30pm for our next hybrid club meeting at R Place in Hillcrest. You may also join virtually on Zoom as well.

We will consider post-primary endorsements on races that will now feature 1 Democratic candidiate on consent, including Eleni Kounalakis for State Treasurer, Tom Umberg for Board of Equalization District 4, and Tiffanie Tate for State Senate District 32. We will also reconsider endorsements for Grossmont Union High School District.

Finally, issuing a yearly reminder that all club memberships run through June 30th, so now is a better time than any to renew your club membership!

Endorsement: Xavier Becerra for Governor

On Harvey Milk Day, we are reminded that equality has never been guaranteed. Every step forward for LGBTQ+ people came because courageous leaders chose to stand up, speak out, and fight for our humanity.

That is why today, San Diego Democrats for Equality is proud to endorse Xavier Becerra for Governor of California.

Long before it was politically safe, Xavier Becerra stood with LGBTQ+ people in the fight for dignity, equality, and freedom. He has spent his career defending our right to exist openly, love who we love, and live without fear.

When extremists attack LGBTQ+ youth, Xavier fights back.

When discrimination threatens our families, Xavier fights back.

When our rights are challenged in courts and legislatures across this country, Xavier fights back.

For our community, this is personal.

This is about the young person afraid to come out.

The trans kid wondering if they are safe.

The LGBTQ+ families being targeted by hate and fear. The generations before us who fought battles simply to be seen, heard, and treated equally.

At a moment when LGBTQ+ people are once again under attack across this country, California must continue to be a place of hope, protection, and progress.

We do not need leaders who will stay silent while our community is targeted.

We need leaders who will stand up, fight back, and never stop defending equality for every Californian.

Xavier Becerra has done that his entire career.

And we know he always will.

Hybrid Club Meeting: May 21, 2026

Join us for our next hybrid club meeting in a couple weeks on Thursday, May 21st at 6:30pm at R Place in Hillcrest!

Although our club's voter guide is currently in the process of being mailed out, our executive board has decided to proceed with reconsidering a potential endorsement for Governor. We'll also consider an endorsement for Fallbrook Public Utility District 2.

We will also ask and invite our already endorsed candidates to join us and provide our members an opportunity on how we can help them get-out-the-vote and volunteer for the election.

Voter Guide: 2026 Statewide Primary Election

Ballots have been mailed out, and early voting starts today (Monday), May 4th!

Our voter guide is being mailed out to our club members and is a handy and trusted guide for our recommendations and endorsed candidates that will primarily (no pun intended) be on the ballot for the Statewide Primary Election on June 2nd, 2026.

We have a no-frills, printer-friendly version of our voter guide available as well for your convenience.
