I am honored to step into the role of President of San Diego Democrats for Equality.
First, thank you.
To everyone who showed up, supported, and continues to believe in this organization, your commitment is what makes this club strong.
We are here because people before us built something worth fighting for.
Now it is our turn to carry it forward.
I also want to take a moment to thank Ryan Trabuco for his dedicated seven years of service as President.
His leadership helped build this organization into what it is today, and we are all better for the work he has done.
Let me be clear about what this moment demands.
We are not here to sit back.
We are here to organize, to advocate, and to win.
Across our community, LGBTQ+ people are facing real challenges.
Trans people in particular are under attack across this country, with their rights, their dignity, and their safety being targeted. That cannot be met with silence, and it will not be met with inaction from us.
At the same time, we have an opportunity to lead, to build power, and to elect leaders who will stand up and deliver for our community.
That is the work ahead.
As President, my focus is simple. Build a stronger and more engaged membership. Show up in elections and make an impact. Be a loud and unapologetic voice for equality in San Diego.
This is going to take all of us.
In the coming weeks, you will hear more about upcoming events, ways to get involved, and how we organize together. Whether you are new to the club or have been here for years, there is a place for you in this work.
We are strongest when we show up together.
The work starts now. We are going to show up, fight back, and win.
Let's get to work!
Ryan Darsey (he/him/his)
President
San Diego Democrats for Equality
