Ryan Darsey is the Vice President for Resource Development of San Diego Democrats for Equality and has served in that role since 2020.
A lifelong resident of San Diego, he got his start in Democratic Party politics by volunteering for Vice President Al Gore's 2000 campaign. In 2025, he was elected to serve as Secretary of the San Diego County Democratic Party after serving as the party's East Area Vice Chair. He is Vice Chair of the California Democratic Party's LGBTQ Caucus, a delegate to the Democratic State Central Committee, and also serves as the Vice President of the San Diego County Young Democrats.
In 2008, he was a Senior Field Organizer for the No on Prop 8 campaign, fighting against a statewide constitutional ban on marriage equality.
During the day, he works as Director of Community Engagement for San Diego City Councilmember Stephen Whitburn. Ryan is a 2013 graduate of the Young Professionals Council Academy at the San Diego LGBT Community Center.
Ryan is a firm believer that our party's strength lies in unity and a collective commitment to uplifting the working class while passionately advocating for our core values.
