Lauren Cazares (she/her) is a life-long resident of La Mesa in East County, San Diego and serves as a Policy Advisor at the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. Her policy areas include Environment & Sustainability, Education & Workforce, Small Business, and more.
Prior to her role at the Chamber, Lauren was the Director of Scheduling and Administration for Mayor Todd Gloria. She has just over 7 years of experience working in and around politics and a proven history of advocacy, fundraising, and organizing- including key races across the region in 2020 and 2022.
Lauren is Latina and the proud eldest-daughter of small business owners in Barrio Logan. Her passion for politics began in her teen years and blossomed while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science & Women’s Studies at Point Loma Nazarene University (Cum Laude). Her pet-project is working toward equality and protection of LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, and staff at her alma-mater. She is apart of the Emerge California Class of 2023.
In addition to her board service for San Diego Democrats for Equality, Lauren serves as a board member for the San Diego Leadership Alliance 501c(3), Board Member for the City of La Mesa Community Police Oversight Board, Co-Chair for the Normal Heights United Staff-Parish Relations Committee, Community Service Representative for the East Area Caucus of the County Democratic Party, and a committee member for the League of Women Voters, San Diego Pride She Fest, and the MTS Community Advisory Committee. She is grateful for this opportunity to join the board of Dems for Equality as we have been voted SD Democratic ‘Club of the Year’ and inspired by board members past and present.
